MANGOSTEEN FRUIT
Mangosteen tree (Garcinia Mangostana) grows well in the Tropics namely South East Asia region and bears dark Purple in color fruit. The 'Queen of Fruits', Mangosteen sweet sour white flesh is protected by its hard shell known as 'Pericarp'. This exotic fruit is loved for its sweet flesh and most often goes well with the 'King of Fruits', Durian. However, the pericarp of the exotic fruit is also used by the South East Asians for hundreds of years as home remedy for Diarrhea, stomach ache, fever and others. The high medicinal properties that Mangosteen possesses remains a secret within the region.
Recent studies shows that Mangosteen contains the most plentiful natural source of 'Xanthones' compared to any rain forests plants. The most concentrated is in the rind or pericarp of the fruit.
Xantones are powerful antioxidants in a family of phytonutrients. It provides many times more antioxidants than Vitamin C and E. The strong antioxidant properties have been found to support and enhance the immune system besides neutralizing free radicals in the body.
ROSELLE
Also known as Hibiscus Sabdariffa in Latin, Roselle grows well in most tropical regions of the world. Roselle plant takes about 3 months to mature. After the flower buds open up, the flowers will drop off and leaves the calyces to develop into bright red in color.
Traditionally, the calyces are mixed with tea or other herbs and served as tonic or drink due to its medicinal properties. Roselle has anthocyanins, a powerful antioxidants and vitamin C.
